Church History
Ambassador Baptist Church, Hopkinsville, KY

While travelling from his home in Kentucky, to College in Chattanooga, Pastor Lear passed through Hopkinsville on a regular basis. It was during these trips that God began leading him to start the Ambassador Baptist Church. Ambassador Baptist Church held its first service in the basement of Pastor & Mrs. Lear's home in January 1990, there were fourteen people present at the service. After meeting for several months in the basement of Pastor Lear's home the Church moved to a storefront building on Fort Campbell Blvd.

On August 25th, 1991 the Ambassador Baptist Church was formally organized with the members signing a charter statement committing themselves to the church. Brother Van Williams, Pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church, Madisonville, KY preached the message for the organizational service. Several of their members as well as members representing four other churches from the area were in attendance at this service.

As the church began to see several people saved and the church continued to grow there would be a need for another location. A search was made for either a building or property that would meet the needs and budget of the small but growing church. After several attempts to purchase property (only to have the sellers back out), the Lord opened the door for the church to purchase approximately two and a half acres at 3900 Antioch Road.

The members were committed to constructing a building. The members were dedicated to the work and within the next year they held their first service in the new building. There have been many improvements made since that first service and the church continues to meet in the same building.
